Remote Wordpress import

I'm trying to import a Wordpress installation from a remote server. The process starts but gets to 95% and then remains there forever.

Some of the files are actually copied, and an empty DB is created. But some files are missing (specially the wp-content folder) and the config file is not set with the new DB name and credentials.
Is there a way to see what the problem is?

I think I'm having problems with my WP installation, any write / upload within WP results in a temporary IP Block.
x10Hosting's been essentially useless to this point, even to acknowledge any problems :-(
