Replace files on external websites with your files? (web browser)

Hi, I was wondering if there was a firefox/chrome addon/mod to replace, say, the google logo on it's site, with a different logo but the browser is tricked into thinking it is the original logo, i.e. the source of the website (as determined by browser) stays the same, just the file (in this case image) data is changed (in the browser, not on the site.) Kind of like this addon, My Image Here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/my-image-here/ (isn't compatible, you know how firefox and addon compatability go hand in hand ) but for all files (but just images would be ok too). In last resort just make My Image Here compatible for firefox 11, and all future and past versions if possible(assuming it can be?).

Why do you need this?

Your written description is unclear. You can't really "trick" the browser into replacing one image with another and simultaneously have the browser "think" it's the original image, if that's what you're getting at. Even the plugin you link to merely changes the source of an <img> element. If you want the browser to be unaware of the change, you need to install a proxy server with image replacement capabilities (à la upside-down-ternet) and configure your browser (or system) to use it.

For a general way of customizing web pages in Firefox, install Greasemonkey and write Greasemonkey scripts. Chrome 4 added native support for Greasemonkey scripts.
