Strange. Most toll-free #'s I know of are 800,888 or something like that.

That one starts with 0-905 ( A Canada Area Code - Canada: S Cent. Ontario: Greater Toronto Area ) ... but when I did a reverse lookup, its saying it doesn't exist.

I would call, also, if I knew more about what this number is ... and why you can't call it yourself, if its toll free.

I'm pretty sure that that number is of some internet site that charges for some service over the phone. It could be some adult site or a game (I've seen a couple of them charge for premium game access like that).
The thing that is especially suspicious and sounds like my assumption above is correct, is that he said that they might ask for username (which is probably his username on that site).

So bottom line is, he's trying to get a membership/premium access on some site and want someone else to pay for it...
