I would like a script like Torch's SigChat. You can see his signature in his profile (click).

He offers one to people for free, but I don't like using remotely hosted scripts.

It should use PNG images, unlike Torch's which uses JPG. I would like all the features of SigChat. I don't know if SigChat has this, but I'd also like to have IP logging and banning, in case someone keeps posting inappropriate messages. The fields should check to make sure there are no spaces at the beginning or end of the name or message (also prevents people from using all spaces, or a single space, as their name or message), and that there are no excess spaces, meaning there should be no more than one space in between the words of the name or message. Example: " This Name" or "This Name " not allowed, and "This (lots of spaces stripped out by vBulletin) Name" not allowed. Actually, it would be cool to do like vBulletin does and just strip out any extra spaces, leaving only one between characters.

You don't have to do much for the graphic part (unless you want to, and are actually a good graphic designer). I just need a sample image to see that it works. Maybe just a simple PNG image with a white background, and have black text printed onto the image. Don't waste time making a separate image for Post Message either, since the whole image will be clickable or I'll have a text link under it.

Just know that I can't use an image that's any larger than 300x125 (widthxheight), and the filesize of the image cannot exceed 20 kilobytes.

I have no clue how many points this is worth. I don't know how much work it will take, since I don't know PHP, and if I did, I wouldn't be asking someone else to do it.

If you wish anything like my SigChat Service, you talk directly to me.

And please don't post in here to ask torch questions, say that you got one from him, or anything else not related to my thread.

This is NOT a sigchat discussion thread, use private messages.

Hi,

What you are asking goes against my copyright! If you wish a script same/similar as SigChat, you talk directly to me.
Everything about SigChat, is highly customizable and can accomodate anything that you'd like.

If you have a custom request, please email me at contact@sigchatservice.com or thorugh your SigPanel when you request a SigChat.

Please close the thread you made.

- Vladan
It does NOT go against your copyright and I will not close the thread. IPB does not go against vBulletin's copyright. They are both a message board software/script but they are not in violation of each other's copyrights unless one steals code from another.

Ah, public display of PRIVATE messages. The lowest you can go.

Anyway, like I said, SigChat is extremely flexible and can accomodate anything you'd like. If you wish, you can request one and than talk to me about any custom modifications. Since it's under constant development, all suggestions on new features are welcome and many of them have already been added.

If I wanted, I would've already released a standalone script. Otherwise, asking someone to copy it, is a copyright issue.

We've received several complaints about this topic. Please keep on topic. Koshimi asked for a SigChat, not for a discussion about one. Thanks.

No, it would not be a violation of copyright unless the code was physically copied. Making a similar script is acceptable.

Please stay out out of this topic from now on. You don't know anything about copyrights, and if you did you would know that there is nothing wrong with this.

I would like to add, that the messages are not private. The lowest you can go? That would be you, coming into this thread to advertise your service, when I already stated that I do not wish to use a remotely hosted script, and then you claiming that making a similar script would violate your "copyrights".

I quoted your message to let everyone know that it is NOT a copyright violation in ANY way. And you asking me to lock my topic out of jealousy that someone MIGHT use a sig without the need for your service, was just hilarious.

You are not the first person to have a signature that people can post to. I have seen one before, and that type of sig was then banned from the forum since some of what people were posting to the sig violated forum rules. That caused it to be changed, with only a dropdown box of messages that you could send. If making a signature image that people can submit messages to is a violation of copyright, then you're the one what has violated someone's copyright.

Do as you wish, I really have no more interest in this argument.

But for just an info, the original SigChat I made over 2,5 years ago and used it just for me. When I got this great hosting, I decided I could use extra bandwidth to make some community/service site. Since lot of people liked SigChat in the past, I decided to share it as a service.
In past 2 months I have been constantly working on SigChat and developing it from very, very simple script to rather complex that is now. And it just keep getting better.
I also have no knowledge of the script you mentioned above. If it was indeed made before SigChat (which is 2,5 years ago), than good for them. In any case, I remind you that you used name "SigChat" in the title of your topic, thus referring to my service and not the other script.
If you can't respect all the time and work I voluntarily (without asking or getting anything in return) invested in SigChat Service, than we have nothing further to discuss.

You have already been asked to stop posting here.

I did not use that one as an example because I don't even remember who it was or what forum it was, and I'm not even sure if the forum would be around anymore.

Who says I'm not respecting it? That has NOTHING to do with this topic. Nobody is asking for the code to your script. I was requesting a SIMILAR script. If you think that means I'm not "respecting the time and work" you put in to make SigChat, then you're very mistaken. Actually, by that logic, you are not "respecting the time and work" put in by the person who made one BEFORE you.

I'm not even the one who started the discussion. It was you who could not refrain from coming in to advertise your script, when in the original post I had already said that I was not interested in something remotely hosted.

Then you brought "copyright" into the discussion, making false claims of copyright infringement because you're mad someone else didn't want to use your script.

Stop posting here. It's been said before, so stop.

Please get on topic or this topic will be closed.

Koshimi he has a right to be in this topic as his product/software is called SigChat. So as you have SigChat in the topic name he can be here but I think you should change the topic name as it is confusable with his product/software.

I remind you that you used name "SigChat" in the title of your topic, thus referring to my service and not the other script.

Gee wiz. Picky Picky. I would of understood that he was looking for something ( as he quite nicely first stated ) something similar.

If he would of said "I want a chat thing for my signature" - would you still have come in here, proclaiming to be the sole creator of one?? ... He used what was familiar to help others get an idea of what he was talking about.

If I had no idea what a Sigchat was, I would of wanted to know. So, he or whoever makes it - doesn't use the word Sigchat ... Fine. I think he got that.

Otherwise, he doesn't want to use YOUR service. Is that acceptable?? Whoever he uses, they can work with you and make sure nothing is copied, hence nothing is violating your copyright ( which, is kinda funny ... in this day an age, anything can be copywritten ... )

Now, can we please get back on topic and someone help this nice person??

You missed the point of my whole argument.

But like I stated above, nothing more on this subject will be posted.

Please continue with the original topic.
