On signing up to this site i was led to believe that the Disk Space was unlimited for the Free Account i chose, but having reached 512mb i am unable to add the main content of my Personal DJing site....the free Music!

I looked around but found no information on this and then just as i was about to deactivate my account i came across this forum and Request for Unlimited Disk Space Posts

Please could you activate this for me as that was why i signed up in the first place and most definately need more space, also could you either link me up or explain to me why i need to request unlimited disk space pls... sorry in advance if i have overlooked something

New accounts are limited to 512MB in order to minimize the effects of abuse. Believe it or not, there are a whole lot of people who would like nothing more than to open a hosting account and quickly upload gigabytes of copyrighted material they aren't authorized to use. In order to receive an upgrade:
(1) your account must be at least 7 days old;
(2) you must be using more than 50% of your initial allotment; and
(3) you must have a working website that fully complies with the Terms of Service (pay particular attention to the copyright issue).

"Unmetered" isn't unlimited. There is a hard cap of 50,000 inodes, as well as limits on media storage and file size.

I found your/this site on http://www.hostingadvice.com/how-to/free-web-hosting/

...where it stated all of this below [copied & pasted directly from the page], so i don't know what you mean by "Unmetered isn't Unlimited", but like i originally stated, i joined because of the free Hosting with Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth also, if you are telling me that this isn't the case, then why is it advertised as such?

3. x10Hosting.com

The veterans at x10Hosting pride themselves on giving their free hosting customers a stable and high-performance environment with the latest versions of PHP, MySQL, and cPanel.

  • Storage: Unlimited
  • Domain: 2 add-on domains, 1 parked domain, and 2 subdomains
  • eCommerce: 1-click installs for eCommerce platforms such as Magento
  • Bandwidth: Unlimited
  • Email: 3 free accounts
  • Website Builder/Design: Website builder with more than 150 templates; other programs available via cPanel installations
Unlimited storage and bandwidth is a major plus for x10Hosting, along with a support community of more than 750,000 members.

I totally understand your explanation of why there is a 512mb cap now that's been clarified, but would have liked to have seen this on the site to begin with, whilst i didnt actually expect to find such a great free Hosting service to begin with, i thought it worth a search before i saught a paid Host

I will not be able to have everything working on my site with this current limitation, as my website is meant to be an archive of my entire Musical work, from DJ Mixes, Radio Shows, Productions and Remixes, all meant to be available for everyone to stream online and/or download for free, so i don't kow if this will be a problem with part 3 of the requirements you mentioned in your reply, please advise and i will do my best to meet the criteria

Thank you for your response also, it is most appreciated, i look forward to your further response

PS what are inodes by the way? never heard that term before

i would like to know why after being away for a few days i coime back and the few DJ Mixes i uploaded are no longer showing up on my website? DJ Mixes do not violate any terms so why remove them? Even picky sites such as Soundcloud.com dont have any issues with Mixes being uploaded and downloaded so why have you?

-
free-hosting support in these forums is by volunteers (there is no paid staff) and most of them do not have access to your free-hosting's server - if needed to resolve your issue

the reality is staff (i.e. Admins) may not have the time needed for free-hosting accounts - staff's other projects and services take priority over support for free-hosting's accounts

there is no guarantee of support for free-hosting accounts

with no answer from you - I assume you do not need any help

They were asking about the file size because files that are 10MB or above in size would automatically be removed a few hours after being stored.
