Wow.

RPG Maker most certainly does not make Role Playing Games. No wai.

I'm not a fan of RPG makers of any kind, mostly because they can only make RPGs, are often too restricting (at least for me anyways), and always seem to produce "clone" games (all games are the same with different stories and graphics). I haven't tried RPG Maker XP, so I can't speak for it, but I know this was the case when I tried RPG Toolkit.

Is RPG Maker hard to use, and is it only for the PS2?

PS2 as in PlayStation 2?? ... I think RPG Maker is for Windows / PC's ... I have heard of it, but never gave it a try. I have mostly tried to stick with MUDs ... although I really stink as a coder.

There's RPGmaker 97 (i think at least), rpgmaker 2000, rpgmaker 2003 (little bit better than 2000, but not by much, changes the battle system is most of it), and rpgmaker xp for pc's...

But, after running it through google, I'm rather surprised. There actually _is_ a version for consoles :S

Kinda surprised me, then I remembered seeing it on sale at the local video store (few years ago when they cleared out their old games). There's also RPGMaker 2/3 for the ps2, which are the ones I'm betting you saw, XD

I'd give links to rpgm2000/3 but if memory serves they aren't entirely legal (something about being translated to english without the proper rights or something), but if you google around a bit you'll find them (xp's legally english but needs a key to make it unlocked)...

Oh, and as for ease of use, it's not that hard to throw together an average quality rpg. If you're gunna go for the gold though, expect to need a good collection of MIDI music, sound effects, tilesets, and graphics. There's a link at the bottom of this post to a project called "Charas-Project." They've got resources you can use, but if you're using the complete resources area, you'll need to contact the author of each resource for permission.

Psone and PStwo RPGmaker's follow (in order, rpgmaker1, rpgmaker2, rpgmaker 3)

Not denying that. Well, cept the total and complete lack of experience I have in C+ (the closest I've gotten to coding anything is coding in objects for RunUO servers, and even now I still suck at it)...

It is easier to just jump right into the rpgm series though, but you could definetly make better graphical effects with c+ (the scripting engine in rpgm2000/3 is limited, xp's i wouldn't doubt is limited but I have no experience with it)...

I have used the original rpg maker for the computer, rpg maker 2000 for the computer, the playstation one, and XP. They have made a new one which has exceptional graphics compared to xp, it's as good as some ps2 games! Heres a link to the pics http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/706/706927/imgs_1.html . Any reason why you ask if we use it?
