While the 4.x Gb file is still downloading, I'm about to get into the world of Linux, and hopefully for more than a week at a time.
I have just set up a new 10 Gb partition on my laptop and am ready to get things going(anyone else amazed at how easy they made partitioning in Vista..?). It took me a bit to finally pick a good distro to use. One thing I must worry about is driver support. With laptops, well you don't have a wireless adapter CD to pull the driver off of, so it makes it a bit harder to obtain a driver for your wireless card. And without internet I'm afraid I can't make much use of any PC.
Sabayon has seemed to have a rather extensive support range for drivers. My old laptop had this problem and Sabayon pro 1.1 was the solution. I think the newest version is somewhere around 2.3 or something, so I'm hoping this has the support for my newer laptop. I would have tried Kubutnu 8.04, but it list my wireless card under the restricted drivers and tries to use that feature, but i investigated the problem and found that it is a common problem and that my wireless card still won't work and blah blah.
So, has anyone really used the newest Sabayon? The professional edition comes with a lot of software like wine and virtual box, etc.
I'm really curious about opinions on this OS and anyone feel free to reject it and suggest another one. I'm actually looking for a Windows replacement here.
