I deleted "Tempory Internet Files". I still get a page in IE with the form containing code between <noscript> tags but c-panel shows me a page with the code I want -between <?php> tags.

Same darned address. I know that's not it. I've checked the spelling of the file and looked for duplicate pages but I don't see any. What am I missing? Is it some kind of php issue? I used to have the file saved as an .htm. But there is no contact_page.html in the directory anymore. Just contact_page.php

Kansy,

I deleted cached internet files, cookies, internet history, saved form data ...everything except for passwords. I also downloaded Mozilla Firefox and used it to open the page. Same results.
This seems like there are more than one copy of the page with the same name and the browsers are loading the wrong one. But the directory of my site is showing just one file:
href="http://sifaka888.x10hosting.com/recovery_site/
recov_pages/contact_page.php">http://sifaka888.x10hosting.com/
recovery_site/recov_pages/contact_page.php
I would appreciate any advice you can give me.
thanks,
sifaka

Hmm,

I edited the page real quick and it showed the change immediately for me. Are you positive you're going to the correct link and updating the correct files? The folders\files have to be in public_html.

Corey & Kansy,

Yes, the file does show saved changes. but somehow when you access the page over the web by URL it shows an old copy.

The old copy has <noscript> tags in the form just before the form submit code. The copy we see when we open it up with the c-panel has the wanted <php> tags just before the form submit code.

The page:
http://sifaka888.x10hosting.com/recovery_site/recov_pages/contact_page.php

is located inside the public html and www folders inside other folders called recovery_site and recov_pages.

If you access the page by absolute link through the internet you will get the old code that contains the <noscript> tags. When I look at the copy c-panel has saved it plainly shows the desired <php> tags.

Are there two different copies on two different .x10 servers? I am on Cossacks.x10 server.

Thanks a lot Corey and Kansy,

sifaka

Hi,

The <noscript> tags are being added by the JS include you have there. That is why they are not showing in the code but show once the page is parsed.

Thanks, Corey,

What is the JS "include"? But my burning question: Would you look at the source code of the page:

http://sifaka888.x10hosting.com/recovery_site/recov_pages/contact_page.php

when it provided by c-panel, and then compare that code to the code shown for the page when it has been called through the internet?
I've noticed that in the code given by c-panel there is no JS code in the form just before the submit code, and there is <php> code there.
When I look at the code shown for the page when it is called over the internet there is JS and <noscript> just before the submit code, and there is no appearance of the <php> code.

I have completely deleted my browsing history a number of times.

Do you find the same discrepancy? What does it mean?

What I'm trying to do is make my form spam-proof. The php code is for using the "reCaptcha" service.

Thanks again,

sifaka

All PHP code runs on the SERVER side, this means that it runs on the server and then returns what is wanted to the browser (I recommend you to look on Google for a simple PHP tutorial).

The line that says: require_once() is calling another file/page, and this file can add more information/code to your actual page.
That should be where the <noscript> comes from.

Dear moderator,

I've read a number of PHP tutorials. And I dutifully checked forums and googled my question before posting a new thread --I really tried not to waste your time.
But at this stage of my education I'm afraid I didn't even know what question to ask.

Thanks for taking time to help this humble newbie with a fundamental.
