School Tennis Team Problem!

OK, I have this really aggitating problem with this teacher at my school that managers the school tennis team that im in. She is really stubborn and since I live on the otherside of the city, she expects me to wake up at 6:00AM and catch a bus at 6:30AM and get to school at 7:30 to be at school for the team practice at 7:45AM.

My current school bus usually gets me to school at about 8:20-35AM (school starts at 8:45). I have expressed that I may not be able to attend the practices, but her immediate response was 'well why dont you wake up, your in a team and everyone else her can wake up and get here in time', yet my only problem with that comment is that the rest of the team and her basically live down the road from the school and can get up a desent time.

My parents wrote me a note to express why I couldnt make it to the team practice, but she totally ignored the fact that I would have to wake up at 6AM and only got to the point that I played other Tennis and had 3 other training days a week. Her comment after reading the note was 'well your in a team and you should be commited to the team. If you just turn up to the games and not the practices, then the rest of the team are going to feel like you are not part of their group'.

:S I also showed my friends at school the note my parents wrote and they were totally backing me up (they live in my area). One of them was waiting for a class when I showed her (the teacher) the note, and he just felt like jumping in afterwards and arguing for me - I gave up and walked to my next class (upstairs).

The reasons I cannot make practice (stated in my note):

1) I have a 2 hour session of Tennis and Fitness coaching on Tueday

2) I have another 1 hour Tennis coaching lesson for club tennis on Friday

3) I play Inter-Club (a weekly tornament where one clubs team verses another clubs team) on Sunday to make room on Saturday for my school tennis

4) My parents do not want me to be leaving the house in the dark and they believe that I shouldnt have to get up that early as It would impact my concentration and learning ability for the rest of the day.

5) My parents both goto work at different directions and are unable to take me.

6) My school bus and other buses can take anytime between 50 minutes - 1 hour 50 minutes (depending on how congested the roads are - usually very congested and the bus's just drive down the side of the road and/or in the middle median lane.

Does anyone have an more suggestions on how to get her to excuse me from having to get up at this rediculous time.

Current Bus Times:
Morning - 7:10AM - 8:30AM
Afternoon - 3:30PM - 4:00PM

Practice Morning - Monday 7:45AM

I have played Tennis for the last 2 years and have been let off.

Consider yourself lucky, especially if your in high school -- I have to catch the bus at 6:20ish to get to school for 7:10 (long, long bus ride, and once I get car issurance I could leave at like 7:00 to get there at the same time).

I'm not surprised your coach won't accept your note, really. I agree with her here because just being there for games isn't exactly being part of the team. At my school, I KNOW this would not be accepted by the coaches.

If you need to get to school by 7:30 for practice, is there anybody who could give you a ride via a car instead of taking the bus? Your parents might not be able to (I know mine wouldn't), but perhaps an older friend who is going out anyways? This might be tough to work out, but it might save you some time and allow you to wake up at around 7:00 ish.

I must agree with Cynical on this, you can't just expect to play for a team but not practice/attend practice.

Exactly my thoughts. Maybe you have too much on your plate.

Well why don't you ask if practises could be set up during the school day - or even after school on some days.

Its part of being on team......in competitive sports practices are just as important as games. ive had the same probelms in hockey and football but ive had to deal with it.
