I always usually have Microsoft Outlook 2003 open and running on the background of my PC, and lately I have been getting really aggitated by Microsoft Outlook asking for the username and password to my email accounts (with x10hosting), as if the password is wrong.

My outlook client is set to check mail every 1 minutes so that I stay up-to-date with the latest news and emails that I recieve.

I was just wondering if this annoyance is caused by some sort of security restriction placed on all mail accounts created by cPanel.

I am not totally sure if it does it for both SMTP and POP3 as I usually keep pressing 'cancel' as it basically has the same effect as clicking 'continue'.

Any help on this issue would be much appreciated!

[UPDATE]: I have now changed my Outlook settings to not send and recieve any of my x10hosting mail accounts unless I want it to (ie change the setting back).

the password may be wrong, it has to send the username and password every time it checks the mal, you should check your settings and make sure its trying to use the right username/password to connect and get the mail.

check it, if they are "for sure" right, then post back.

I am using the right username and password, it works at times, but after ive had Outlook running for a while it starts displaying the pop-up box asking for the username & password (and the username & password are already filled in).

I believe we only allow you to check your mail 20 times an hour or something similar. I know I changed it from 60 a while ago. You can imagine 200 people checking their mail every minute... ;)

Ok... I also have another problem, when attempting to send mail from any of my '@thejeffsta.x10hosting.com' accounts, it does not go through and Outlook 2003 just stays on the 'processing' state for ages.

My settings have SMTP set to 25, but was just wondering if this is the correct port for the x10hosting mail servers.

I have now set it to check my thejeffsta.x10hosting.com mail accounts every 5 minutes. Does that time fit in with the limitation?

60
----
20 = 3

20 times an hour is once every 3 minutes, so I suppose 5 minutes should be good. :)

Im still having problems sending mail from these accounts using Outlook 2003. Any help on this issue would be much appreciated!

What ISP do you use, many ISPs now block sending out mail to fight spam. Google your ISP along with "Port 25" and see what comes up.

My ISP allows customers to send emails :S I have 2 working email accounts (family account, my private account) with them. Those account settings also use port 25.

It came up with info about other ISP's that block port 25, but nothing about MY ISP blocking port 25.

New Post due to Edit restriction!

Ok, this may just be a coinscidence but whenever I post a reply to any post about my sending mail problem/s, I never seem to get another reply.

Does this mean that no one knows whats wrong and/or how to fix it?

Not really sure as it works for me ;).

If you send through webmail does it work? Is it JUST outlook or is it mail for the account in general?

I can recieve mail perfectly fine, its just sending mail from the accounts using Outlook (webmail is fine but is a bit of a pain as the only way I can send mail). My ISP doesnt explain anywhere on their website that they block port 25 - but they cant really since my ISP email accounts '*@slingshot.co.nz' can send and they are configured for port 25 for outgoing mail and port 110 for incoming mail.

I am willing to see if apple19 gets back to me with the steps on how he got his to work.

Outlook can actually connect to the server but when it tries to send the mail to the server the server doesnt respond at all and eventually Outlook times out (but it takes quite a while to timeout).

Note to madmatt911: Port 21 is the port used for FTP transfers.
