I have the weirdest problem.

My website is valkyria.x10hosting.com

I get a server not found error. A friend mentioned that he could see my website, so I checked with a proxy, and I could as well. I asked another friend who had the same ISP I had, and it didn't work for him either.

Why can't I access my website?

I have a theory. I understand the server ip has been changed recently. Is it possible that my ISP's DNS isn't updated for the new IP and still points to the old one, or to none at all? If this is the case, what should I do?

Thanks for your time. Any idea is welcomed.

I'm haveing the ALMOST same problem.
In account Options everything is online but my web page just give me
"Page cannot be show" (or something like this, my ie is portuguese lol)

when i try proxy, it gives me:
URL Error (0): An error has occured while trying to browse through the proxy.
Failed to connect to the specified host. Possible problems are that the server was not found, the connection timed out, or the connection refused by the host. Try connecting again and check if the address is correct.

thanks

You could also be blocked by the firewall. PM me your IP address and I'll check.

Thanks for your answers.

Any ideas how to flush the dns on linux?

I have disabled my firewall, and it still seems to have the same problem...

The weird part is that it doesn't work for other people who have the same ISP, so I'm guessing it's from the ISP's DNS servers, not my computer. So, they should flush their DNS? I'll wait for a few more days and then I'll give them a call to see what's wrong.

How to Flush DNS in Linux
In Linux, the nscd daemon manages the DNS cache.
To flush the DNS cache, restart the nscd daemon.
To restart the nscd daemon, use the command `/etc/rc.d/init.d/nscd restart`.

courtesy of How do I flush DNS?

Usually your ISP will update their DNS servers with 48 hours.

thanks.

I tried that and a few other things, but it doesn't seem to work. I'll wait for another 36 hours and then check with my ISP to see what's wrong. Other people who use the same ISP can't access it either, so it seems obvious it's something related to their dns.

If you want, use OpenDNS instead. On top of it's great features, you can use the OpenDNS CacheCheck system to see what IP you currently have, and force their caches to reload (y'know, if you need to get to your site now)

I tried using the OpenDNS CacheCheck with my domain mylife.pcriot.com and I'm getting "Did not Resolve" for every location. I even refreshed the cache and still got the same thing.

Could this mean my account might not be fully set up, thus the reason why I can't access my cPanel?

EDIT: I can now see the login page at: http://70.86.238.114:2082/login/

but when I put my info in to login, it says "login failed".

Any hints at why this might happen?

wow, opendns even has an option to refresh it's cache on their website! that's great!

After configuring everything, and selecting to refresh the cache for my website, everything is running perfectly with opendns!

Many thanks, DizzyTechnology!
Edit:
I guess I had spoken too soon. There still are problems with OpenDNS as well. I can only access certain pages, the IP of that page is a bit strange, and I can only occasionally access the cpanel.

Edit2:
It seems now my ISP's DNS servers point to the right direction...

I still can't access my cPanel or my site. I get the message that "it can't find the server mylife.pcriot.com."

Looks like this is solved so I am closing it. Please reopen with further issues.
