Since the holidays are here in full swing I felt this post was appropriate. A lot of the members here will be visiting relatives and will most likely be bored out of there minds.

Anyway:

It's inevitable. You have to visit the parents or grandparents, or if you're an orphan - somebody. This generic familial being generally has a crap computer. But all is not lost. Thanks to sites like gog.com, the-underdogs.info, and various other digital distribution outlets, you can still find things that'll run on nearly any machine. While this list may not be available at some of the usual suspects, most can be found on the web - or better yet, you should already own them. Honestly, they're all must-play titles, even if they're fairly obvious. Really, if you're anything like me, you always make sure you have a gaming vacation during a real vacation. That is, unless you're at a beach. Anyway, here are the title I took on my most recent vacation, and I'd recommend them to you without hesistation.

Click here for the full list with descriptions.

1. Diablo 2
2. Planescape: Torment
3. Deus Ex
4. Civilizations 2
5. Rise of Nations
6. Fallout 2

It's an absolutely superb list. Having played each of these games myself I'm pretty sure I'd be covered this holiday.

So, what games should be added to that list? Remember, they should be able to be played on almost any PC so no Crysis, Half-Life 2's etc...

I think StarCraft and the original Half-Life would fit greatly.

if you're playing @ min req, wolfenstein enemy territory would fit well. it may work above minimum requirements too, but i don't know what they are. urban terror would work as well (both free)

Half-Life and Starcraft will run on any PC, even the crappiest of them, dating back to 10 years or so ago. Halo and Half-Life 2 are great to look into as well if the PC is fairly new and has an ok video card.
