My website healingwmusic.org loads VERY slowly the first time. Once it loads once on my computer/phone it loads pretty fast subsequently. Then after a while it loads slowly again. Is this because it does not have its own dedicated server? Would it help to upgrade the website to a paid plan?

page loading varies based on multiple things,
such things like background scripts, images, music files effect loading speeds.
of course free services may be a bit slower then a paid service.

The slow initial load of your website is likely due to factors like caching, server resources, or network latency rather than the lack of a dedicated server. A shared hosting environment might not perform consistently, especially during high traffic or peak times.
Upgrading to a paid plan can help improve speed, as it often includes more resources, better caching, and optimized server performance. Consider using a Content Delivery Network (CDN) to speed up content delivery worldwide.
Providers like RedSwitches and OVH offer dedicated server plans with higher resources and faster response times, which could further enhance your website's speed and stability.

For what it's worth, I'm from Cuba where the average bandwidth is 1MB haha... and bro, the sites on this free hosting load instantly, even faster than the paid hosting of my clients in Chile.
With this I'm trying to tell you that there must be something wrongly configured on your site (external scripts...) and so on. check that.
