SMF - Forum Problem

The SMF forum loads on my computer, but when other poeple try to access it it doesn't load. It stops loading when you click on forum or when you try to access a particular section of the forum.
I have recently installed a fresh clean version of the forum and have not touched anything on it. I posted this question on the SMF forum, however, they told me that it could be a problem with the host.

Rename the file .htaccess to htaccess.txt

i changed both .htaccess files in the forum but still have the same problem.

The forum is trying to use a restricted function causing the white page to display. You'll need to comment out the user of shell_exec in the Subs.php file.

I ended up disabling hostname lookups as they use shell_exec
