I am trying to set up email alerts for my Boy Scout troop's new Wordpress website but I cannot seem to be able to connect to the SMTP of my Google Apps account to send the emails. Users are able to "subscribe" correctly but no emails are sent.
I am not seeing any error messages.
Thanks for the help.

Do you have any error messages that can help us debug what is going wrong? Are you using SSL/TLS to connect to Google's SMTP servers?

I've tried to use both SSL and TLS. SSL on port 465 and TLS on port 587.
Unfortunately, I am not seeing any error messages from within Wordpress (or the extension that is attempting to send the email), the messages are just not sent.
The extension is WP-Autoresponder.

Do you know of any diagnostics plugins that I could install to try and catch an error message when I send an email?
