This day is strange...
Its March, and it is snowing in Texas, which I never remember happening before.
There are huge snowflakes falling...and there is tons of snow on the ground
This is actually the most snow I've seen in my life, and I have always lived in Texas
Anyone else witnessing the strange Texas snow?

Not me, I'm up in New York State, which always get snow around this time of year. However, for the past three years, we've had a few days back to back where our temperature IN THE MIDDLE OF WINTER reaches 70 degrees. But geez, is that odd or what!

Hey, if it is snowing that bad, at least the kids in school are probably getting a snow day! But I just checked the radar for all of Texas, and geez, is some of that snow over a desert?!

Yeah...I got out of school early
There will probably be a snow day tomorrow too

It is very abnormal for this kind of weather in Texas since it is turning spring this month

It is even weirder because yesterday it was like 70 degrees and now its freezing!
But you know how they say Texas has crazy weather!

Yeah, geez. I just dialed long distance on my landline to someone who is a family friend who used to live down the road from us, and right now they are e-mailing me a picture or two of the storm. It's going to be a while until I get those pictures though as they still have dial-up. But this is a suprise.

I am about 30 miles north of Ft. Worth, Texas, in Justin, and there is now probably more than 5 inches of snow!

Where does your friend live?

I don't know, honestly. Their pictures still haven't arrived (probably still uploading), but I'd probably be in for a suprise when I see those. Do you wanna take some pictures and show us?

It's not a problem, just as long as you are willing to stay on the line to upload them lol.

Wow. So it's just like the stuff we get up north here then! My family friend's pics arrived, and they look pretty much just as bad. So pretty much, up north here we can deal with that much snow (my school never closes either, it is usually the last one closed all the time), but down there, you guys don't have snow plows so that's a problem. Expect probably 2 days of no school with that snow if warm weather doesn't arrive for a bit.

By the way, that same system is going to be hitting my area tomorrow, and is going to slam 4-20 inches of snow in my area. So yeah, if I don't have any school, I have DSL here, so there's no need for me to not get bored and have to go outside and shovel every hour.

Wow. Well, enjoy your day(s) off from school! If you've gotten over 3 inches of snow already, it's going to take a while to clear out, even at Texas's normal temps for this time of year. Also, when all of that snow melts right away, expect some mass flooding as well.

Wonder how many places down there are snowed in right now.

I'm suspecting that it is like this all around since its all over the news

The temps. are way below normal for this time of year

Its also weird because there was a thunderstorm with tons of rain this morning...And now its just snowing. (the snow started somewhere around 12:00 this morning)
Edit:
About 10 Miles North Of Here There's 4 Inches Of Snow!!
Edit:
somewhere in Texas there's even 10 inches of snow!
Edit:
Its getting slightly scary...

I know it's a bit scary, even though you've never seen it before, up here in New York, we've gotten loads of nasty snow storms, from the October Storm last year, to the Blizzard of '77 (I wasn't around then), to pretty much very heavy snow. There are a few tips, but there isn't much to worry about unless the power goes out, then you're at the mercy of the storm, as usually when the power goes out, it takes telephone with it after a few hours. Often times, storms will take out cell phone coverage as well. Out where I am, I live next to the telephone remote terminal, so line failure is highly unlikely, but most COs/RT have generators and/or batteries that can provide a few days of power to telephone and DSL equipment before they shut down. As for cell phone out here, some of the towers don't have generators, so when a bad enough storm hits, cell phone coverage gets very spotty. Fortunately my nearest tower has a generator, but the outages happen a lot out in farm land (which I'm really close to btw).

So yeah, it may seem scary, but there's nothing to worry about just as long as you have power there. Texas will heat back up soon enough, as storms like this normally never last for a day unless the cold front is stuck and is being fed by somewhere. So it's all fine :)

Wow, that's more than I've ever gotten in a single day. Geez. Otherwise, I think the system has pretty much passed by, as I've been watching it as that same system is going to slam my area and dump 4-20 inches on it. so you're probably out of it now, as it seems to be breaking up.

You should have come up to Wisconsin last week. You could have taken all the snow you want ;)

The snow stopped a couple of hours ago, when I measured the snow a few hours ago it was 5 in. but the news says that there was 7 inches in my town. They say that there is going to be more snow starting 3 or 4 AM, though. I hope they are right because that will confirm my theory that there will be no school tomorrow!

The worst I've seen was in Colorado in 2002 or 2003. We got about 8 feet in two days.
