I get a socket error message when installing a HawkinG extender.
they told me a socket is the foot where the motherboard rests on. My question is if i have to bring this laptop back to the shop for a reparation.:thefinger

Haha. No, a socket is not what the motherboard sits on. Those are called risers. A socket [in networking terms] is the combination of an IP address and a port number. A networked device connects to the socket (service listening on a port behind an IP address) of another computer when it wants to connect. So, no there is probably nothing wrong with your laptop.

What exactly is the error message you're getting? What is the model number for the Hawking Extender you're trying to setup?
