Some questions

My aunt has a laptop and a desktop PC that need to use the same monitor. And the laptop needs to be docked to the monitor stand. So, here are my questions. The desktop has GeForce 8300 video card which supports both VGA and DVI connectors.

Got the monitor thing sorted out. There was an input source option.

2. What are the benefits of getting a docking station?

No real necessity for a laptop docking bay, unless you want it easier to plugin all the accessories, I never have use a docking back because there has never been a point of it

I haven't seen a docking station in years. Heck, unless the ones made today are USB, they ended around time my old laptop was around, which has a VGA port, a Serial port, LTP port as well as one USB 1.1 port, Infared port, Audio Ports, a Docking Station port as big as the LPT port, and PCMCIA cards. They're as what "The Real Rebel" pointed out, in just making things easier to hook up all at once while allowing you to keep the laptop lid shut.

My aunt ordered one for her laptop. She didn't like the idea of it always being out on her desk so she got it for her monitor stand etc. This way, her desk will be neat....somewhat... haha
