Someone help?

I currently made a website, in html. I ziped it, and uploaded it to "public_html" so it could be the first thing that people see when they go to the domain, but the index doesn't show :/.. it just shows all the files in public_html :S I have a forum running on a sub domain, it works fine :/
I'm positive I put it in the right spot
Anyone have any ideas?

Use FTP and don't zip them. Upload them directly to your public_html if the images are in a folder upload that whole folder.
