Which is your preffered?

Note the lack of any other makes...(the 2 stated started off making comunications devices and in my eyes are the best around)

I use SE only, as thier testing seems to be more complete, phones are released seemigly bug free. Nokia releases a new phone weekly(how can they test at that rate of release?)

Please note I am from SouthAfrica and we are behind in phones by at least 6months.

I have a Sony Ericsson. The interface is a lot easier to use, better eye-candy, simpler, better featured, better documented, better supported, and for the same or better features, cheaper.

Tada. Anyone for a K850i (5mp)?

i have used both nokia phones and sony ericsson phones for the past few years. previously when i was using nokia phones, i thought it was really user friendly. however, i realized it was just a matter of getting used to the functionality of the phone when i changed my nokia phone to a sony ericsson.

personally i feel that sony ericsson phones are nicer to use. with good color display and cams. those W series have very good sound system. esp with the bundle in-ear headphones. and it cost lesser than most nokia phones.

$n73 music edition > $w850i

plus symbian OS on nokia phone is seriously buggy

Another fact supporting the statment SE is better, is that Sony is one of the leading comercial audio companies.
This could only mean they are a notch up on the audio wuality.

I use a -> SE k800i
My lady -> SE w850i
Edit:
plus symbian OS on nokia phone is seriously buggy

I have noticed this too, since the release of the 6680. the less internal memory, the drastically slower it got... Even after deleting everything on the phone it was still slow.

Starting With SE:
SE K800i

3.2 Megapixel Camera With Xeon Flash
Auto Focus

RSS Feeds
Email
MMS
Radio
QuadBand

Now The Nokia n95
5.0 Megapixel Camera

You should put up a poll for this :)
Anyway I'm really speechless... I have no alignment... they're both good in they're own way, period.
Both camera's of same megapixel rating are more or less similar. Nokia is more user-friendly IMO. Sony Ericsson- WAY better sound :D
At present, I think (except for the camera) the Sony Ericsson P1i is MUCH better than N95 with the TS and stuff :) N95 has 5.1 MP cam but P1i has 3.2 MP which isn't exactly bad either ;)

Nokia n95 was released a year after the k800i, cant compair.
The picture quality on SE's is usually much better.
The only thing that would convince me on a nokia phone would be the GPS.
The 6110 nav phone is good. But full of bugs. Some times you cant hear the caller.
When GPS is on you can be on a call and its still telling you to turn here and go there. The caller on the other end cant hear this. It even reads sms to you(kinda like MS sam).
still prefer my k800i. The best and most obscure feature in it is the Remote.
It alows you to use your phone as a HID via bluetooth on any windows PC. Great for playing with peoples minds.

Nokia vs SE?
hmm.. i never had a SE but my friend does. Except the fact that nokia have a simple system to navigate, like chungsian said "i realized it was just a matter of getting used to the functionality of the phone" its just getting used.

My phones were 6120 then a 1100 and now im in a v360. Ya, in brazil EVERYTHING is expensive x.x

but my friend goa a W810 and im loving it, i think im going to buy one since motorola's battery sucks

I've had a fair share of my cell phones - starting from Ericsson (yes, SE was just Ericsson, like 6-7 years ago), with A2628 model - battery lasted for 15 days, but there was no vibration - mono screen, mono melodies, and it was one of the best phones i had. the only thing that bothered me was slow texting (i was a kid then), so, the next one was Nokia 3310 - a love at the first sms... After that one, I've mostly changed back and forth between Nokias and SE phones (every single one of them being great phone, for a while, at least), and finally set my mind on a Symbian Nokia 6600, and changed it for a Nokia n70 recently. I could say that my heart belongs to nokia, but from what I've seen recently with SE, this is a hard race - every phone has its own benefits, and its bad sides.

For example, I work in a local TV sports station, and we use 3g mobile phones (nokia N95) to make live calls from other sports events. From what I've seen, N95 is top-of-the-hill now, but there are some bugs - while using gps, something happened, and our signal stayed fixed to a point in the middle of nowhere, and until firmware update, it stayed that way - not good when you are driving, and don't know your directions...
Problem - N95 is just sooo expensive, and until i get enough money, it's just a dream to me...

P.S. a bit of trivia: did you know that the first Symbian phone was Ericsson? why did they give up on it, I never understood...

Sony Ericson hands down.
Heres why:
1> Nokia's interface is too confusing. Its difficult to get used to it.
2> Photo quality is much better.
3>Sony is much more rugged, nokia phones are way too delicate.
4> file system is MUCH better.
5> Speakers are louder [on the walkman series]
6> Look better [upto personal taste i guess]
7> sony phones dont hang when you put a large memory card in.

I used a Nokia 8850 for 4 years ago, that is the best phone at that time. Because I am a person who do not really bother about trends or fashion of the latest model or whatever function it may have. That is the best most lasting phone battery life and will be the last I think. The phone battery can last up to 5 days without charging.

Now I am using Sony Ericson K750i, a super upgrade to a very excellent phone.
I seriously love its quality of colours, the camera function, the ability to launch java mobile application. I love the 2 mega pixel excellent one. Now still using it for at least 2 years I guess it will be another 2 to 3 years later before I changed. but the next phone will still be Sony Ericson because it rocks and durable against shock.

I'd have to go with Nokia, too; Sony Ericssons feel like toys. I've used the Nokia N65 and it's WiFi calling is just wonderful--save my minutes when I'm at home, work, starbucks or mcdonalds.

1. Its about as confusing a windows.
2. Dunno, my n95 is a heck of lot clearer than my old k810, works great for night shots too.
3. Dropping either brand would probably bust it, my both my n95 and k810 have survived quite a number of minor falls.
4. About the same really, both have folders, you put stuff in folders etc
5. Ever tried using the 6110 navigator at full volume? It'd bust your ears.
6. No comment, personal taste.
7. My n95 survives an 8GB with minimal lag. My k810 with a 2GB card lags when I load ALL the songs in the walkman
