Subdomain on custom domain.

I have a domain I purchased from namecheap hosted on x10 hosting. I want to make a subdomain on the domain. I've made one and the error it gives in my browser is subdomain.domain.com’s server IP address could not be found. How can this be fixed, is it even possible to do this using a custom domain with x10 hosting>
