You kindly ask us for suggestions and, with respect, I offer the following.
I understand the recent problems, and sterling efforts, surrounding the activity to recover services, and appreciate the dedication of the support staff, especially over the Christmas break.
One of the recurring by-products of any recovery action is providing users with status. I am afraid that I have found it difficult to ascertain current position by trawling through Forums which contain a mixture of really important information from you, mixed in with other user notes of varying content and usefulness.
Once the recovery action is complete, and a more normal work-life balance is achieved for you all, perhaps the following suggestion might be of use.
On the URL shown below, there is a status panel, but it does not show the exact situation from a "user" perspective e.g. FTP is shown as avaiable when it isn't so the service might be running, but we can't access it due to the recovery action.
However, that is not my point. If, in future, a similar panel was made available to each user which has the added two columns describing corrective activity and ETA to fix, I think this would go a long way to quietening the community down as the critical information would be available straight away without Forum trawling. You could even have it automatically shown when the user log's on to make it even easier to communicate important information to us.
I offer this suggestion for you to use, or discard, as you think fit.
