By the way, I am going to have my first time with linux and I want it to be sweet. Although is the first, time, I know I want it to be hard (i like challenge, and i think i have some experience to take it), but anything I can understand. Which distribution do you suggest me?

Conor, I'm glad Ubuntu is working for you.

@clareto: If you want a challenge installing an OS, check out Debian or a BSD clone. BSD is almost like Linux, but is a little more technical.

I am going to buy a second HD for Ubuntu and the first will have Windows. Just trying to figure things out now.

if you havent had any experience with linux id recommend getting a cd/dvd-bootable copy of knoppix
once you get accustomed to the linux environment, then you might want to decide

dont regret your decision

I would almost agree. I would put Linux over Solaris because of how many different varieties there are. Too bad there isn't a way to make Windows farther down on the list though....

Lets see... (Continuing from other list)

UNIX > NeXT > OS/2 > BoB > Lunix > DoS > Windows

Far enough down?

lol if you wanted to be more specific, you could degrade windows by each operating system in succession
i.e. windows xp > blahblahblah all the other versions of windows > windows ME (what i would like to call 'many errors' edition)

Ubuntu by far has been the most pleasent experience on the Linux arena. Works almost like magic. But my friends keep asking me to move forward and try Debian.

The main concern with the open OS is the availability of drivers for printers and peripherals.
