The Index of page

basically when i open my site im gettting an page that says "index of / " and i dont want this as my homepage and i do not know how to get rid of this page appearing everytime my site is opened so could you please help me out thanks .

Have you uploaded any files to your website?
The index listing you are seeing is due to the fact that there is no index file (index.php or index.html) file, (and apparently no other files or folders), in your public_html directory.
The index file in your public_html directory will appear by default when people visit your website.
