The menu on the left is tight on the edge of the screen - makes it difficult to read. It needs some space adding in both sides.

The site looks nice. One thing I would do to the site is resample some of the images like the hurricane image and the path of Hurricane Bertha so that it looks neater and into a thumbnail, and then make that resampled image a link to a higher resolution picture. Another thing I would do is remove the PHP/MySQL version numbers just for safety of the server.
