A little sideline on the "Principality of Sealand". Wikipedia says a man called Paddy Roy Bates went on a naval fort called "Roughs Tower" that had been abandoned for quite a while and declared his own country there. A group of German and Dutch citizens actually tried to overtake the fort, but Bates retook the fort with a helicopter assault. One citizen was actually tried for treason because he had a Sealand passport. The German and Dutch citizens who invaded still think they are the rightful owners of Sealand, and have started a "government in exile" in Germany.

Now, Property in Sealand is being sold for US$998 Million.

But, back on topic: the Pirate Bay island would need a military to defend itself from the RIAA and the MPAA. Are you willing to fight for the pirated BitTorrent movies you love?

They have stopped thinking about buying sealand because of no information from government of sealand, now they are thinking about their own island in Caribbean sea (too much d/l and then watching of "Pirates of Caribbean"?)

According to information @ Estonian tech magazine [digi], it has loads of sandy beaches, complete road network, drinkable water held in 151,000 liter water tank, an airport and 4 houses

Buying an island is one thing ... but if the island is already under a country flag, then what was the point of it? ...
They need to find something like Sealand ... or work with sealand ( maybe not buy it ... but open shop there ... like I mentioned about a company that does already )

If celebrities can buy islands and places of that nature, if they have the funds and the way ... more power to them.
