Hello, I have a website, www.project-tideas.com, that is being hosted by another hosting company. I want to transfer everything on that site to let x10 host it.

How can I transfer the data from one hosting company to x10? I tried doing the backup upload, but for some reason it isn't working.

Of course, i would want x10 to host the website, but do I have to transfer the data?

Thanks mucho

you can use net2ftp. you have just to download it (from www.net2ftp.com) and put in a directory of your old hosting service. then, login, select all files and copy them via ftp connection to your x10hosting account. it's very fast, because its a server to server transfer.

Then you ask an account manager to change your sub-domain to the domain you want to use, and update your nameservers to x10's. ( ns1.x10hosting.com / ns2.x10hosting.com )

Unless you delete your information from your other host. It will still be wherever you left it. When you point your domain somewhere else - thats all that changes. Just where the domain points, not what is stored on the servers.

Well, my line of thoughts is that, since I'm using the other host provider, they allotted me certain MBs of usage, as well as mysql, and all that stuff.

By switching over to x10, and let x10 host it, I thought x10 won't be able to pick up such data, and such registry.

But you're saying it will? So if all of the data of my website is there, and I change from my previous provider, to let x10 host my site, all the data of my website will still be there and everything? Including my wordpress format?

For files on your old webhost:
Download then reupload them here (or use the net2ftp program mentioned previously.

For Databases.
Try taking a backup and then restoring it in phpMyAdmin on our servers.

Your Bandwidth will be reset to 0 and your allowances will be whichever plan you signed up with.

For the domain name:
Once you've finished with the file and DB transfer go to your Domain Registrar and change the name servers to x10hostings.

Thank you everyone for all of your help. Let's see if this works :)
Edit:
ok, so I transfer all the files over, and as well as the mysql. I also tried to change the subdomain into my domain, but it won't let me.

Can an admin make it so that my domain is "http://www.project-tideas.com"

Thanks
Edit:
Since my site used wordpress with my previous provider, and I still want to continue using wordpress from when I left it with x10, does anyone have any knowledge as to what I have to do? Right now, my site, www.project-tideas.com, is telling me its having a hard time establishing connection.

So if anyone can help me do this , that'd be great

Sorry for the delay on this. Your domain works for me, were you able to transfer everything and get it working?
