Hi everyone,

I'm trying to install MediaWiki to my new x10Hosing account, and I can't seem to get it to work. I've copied all the required files to the public_html/wiki directory (as per the install instructions), and I've changed the permision for the config directory to 755 (again, as per the install instructions). However, when I naviate to the wiki directory, I get to the screen that asks me to setup the wiki, but when I click the link to do so, all I get is:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
MediaWiki 1.10.1 Installation

Checking environment...

Please include all of the lines below when reporting installation problems.
  • PHP 5.2.3 installed
------------------------------------------------------------------------

And it just freezes there...

Does anyone know what I've done wrong and what I need to do to fix this? Should I just FTP upload all the files again and retry?

I should mention that I'm not a wiki, PHP, Apache, or MySQL expert.

Thanks very much in advance.

Corey

I know this has been brought up before, if you do a quick search of the forums you might find if anyone else has figured out the issue. I have no prior experience with this script so I can't really say what is wrong if they have no error reporting.

Hi Corey!

I've already conducted a search on this subject, and you're correct - it has come up a couple of times. Unfortunately, none of the previous discussions came to any sort of resolution (sorry, I probably should have mentioned that in my original post). I've posted my question in the hopes that maybe someone has come up with a solution to this, since my issue isn't an isolated one.

Thanks. :happysad:

Later, I will modify the installation script to allow for installation onto x10Hosting, i was working on it before, i'll finish it up later, unless you find another solution.

Perhaps, just don't do it by Fantastico, just manually upload the files and install it,

@blueparukia - they aren't trying to install t by fantastico as they've uploaded and chmodded the files.

Also using fantastico can leave scripts dangerously out of date.

Forgive my nievity on this subject but does this "installation script modification" indicate a global issue at x10Hosting with respect to installing MediaWiki? In other words, can nobody currently install MediaWiki on x10Hosting? I'm just trying to determine if I've done something wrong, or if this is a site-wide issue.

Regardless, thanks for taking the time to fix this installation script.

BTW - do you have an ECD on when you might have the modified script done? Not trying to be pushy, just asking.

Thanks!

I will work on it first thing tomorrow, went out a little longer than expected, also I don't know why mediawiki doesn't like x10Hosting, it's weird.

Cool, thanks!

Post here when you're done so everyone else will know.

Thanks again.

I'm going to look into this in the next day to see what we can do to make it work on our end.
