Trouble using AWS remote mySQL server

I am using x10hosting for hosting my website, but the database is through AWS. I was able to use it fine with another hosting company and locally, but it does not seem to work with x10hosting. Any ideas why?

due to the large abuse and security risk - x10hosting's free-hosting accounts do not have remote MySQL database access (both incoming and outgoing from the account) - x10hosting's firewall blocks all remote database access
