Unable to edit files

Hello. If I try to 'edit' or use the 'code editor' for a file (opened via the file manager), the window pops up and I am able to type; however, none of the buttons respond. So clicking 'save changes' or 'close' does absolutely nothing. Is there something I'm missing or is this a bug? If it makes any difference, the permissions on the file I am trying to edit is 0644. Help would be appreciated, thanks!
