Hello,
I have been operating a website under the "tentoka2" account (domain: tentokai.com) for several years, but decided to open this new account, "apuvx10m", with the intention to offload a part of the functionality to a separate site. This will mean moving the LimeSurvey platform, which requires at least 800 mb of space on the server (double that with backup), and in addition, I'm building a small website with a forum, that'll require a bit more space, so I would appreciate you lifting the metering restrictions on this account, as you had done for me on the other one.
Another issue for me is that I've had a problem with hitting the "508 Resource Limit Hit" error when my university course students were trying to fill out online questionnaires using the LimeSurvey platform. This is something I only do a couple of times a year, but when it does happen, there are up to 100 students trying to access the server concurrently. I imagine that this has to do with the 5 PHP process limit on the free hosting plan, am I correct? Can anything be done about this, while still remaining on free hosting?
Now, I have considered upgrading to a paid account, but there are some questions I haven't been able to answer by reading the information on your site. Looking at your paid plans, it seems that Premium hosting doesn't actually increase either the PHP or the total processes limit at all; for that, I'd have to go up to Infinity level, and even then, the basic Infinity package only bumps up the PHP processes to 10, which probably wouldn't be enough to handle 100 concurrent users, would it? The limit only goes up to 20 processes at the Infinity+One level, which costs $19.95 a month. This troubles me, as I definitely can't afford to pay $20 a month (or even $7 a month, for that matter) for hosting. These are all non-profit activities for me, aimed at helping the student community at the University of Veracruz, while the expenses do come out of my own pocket -- and I am on a tight Mexican budget. The sweet spot that would allow me to buy in would be the $4 a month cost of the Premium package, but it doesn't look as though that would be enough to solve the resource limit issue...
At the same time, I am surprised by such low process limits in the first place, given that x10Hosting is so generous with all the other allowances, but on this particular score seems to fall a little bit behind the curve. I have looked at different providers, and it is common these days to see packages with a 20-process limit for $5-$7/month (albeit potentially with some other restrictions). The point is that I am very comfortable with x10Hosting, have been with you guys for years and wouldn't like to go anywhere else, but I need an affordable solution for my situation. Do you have any suggestions for me?
Thanks, I look forward to your reply...
Oleg Gorfinkel.
