Hey, just finished a new design for my website, and before I replace my current design with it, I just wanted to know what you guys though?

Here is my current one:
http://www.distrasdesigns.com

Here is my update:
http://www.distrasdesigns.com/update

I made the 'current' one before I went to London for a week, and when I came and looked back at the design I wasnt too sure about it. So ive just created the 'Update' one. I feel its a lot more brighter and eye catching as of the varying colours and the use of my own photography on there too :)

Some of the things that im planning to add to the 'Update' (if i choose to use it), will be a random photograph for the top right and bottom left images (which will be my own photographs).

Let me know what you think guys,
Mike

>.< I wish I knew how to do stuff like that

anyway, I like the 2nd one better, though, the first one's not bad either

By the way,
I DID create this in Dreamweaver, but everything is still hand written code!

The only shortcut I use in dreamweaver is to insert an image and the find and replace function :)

I dont like the second ones background. Try placing it in the middle of the page vertically as well as horizontally.

Yeah I planned on aligning it vertically too...

But what I wanted to know which is the best way to achieve this?

Normally I would insert a table with 100% height and width then center everything inside that cell vertically and horizontally, and ot make it work I would have to delete the:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

Any other ways of doing this?

I generally like the layout but getting a background that wasnt dull and miserable was a bit awkwad. Any ideas?

I like both of them but the second design sounds like it will serve you better. I don't care for the background color you used on the 2nd one. To me it is just there and does nothing for the design, maybe something darker to really make the center stand out more.
