this looks like a solution to a problem I'm looking into

I want to forward my own domain name to a website , looking here I can do that with website forwarding

the domain name is currently with a different supplier and i can reset the DNS settings but do i also need to Change IPS Tag
in order to setup 3 email address using my domain name

i looked around on the FAQ and found
http://x10hosting.com/wiki/How_to_Use_Your_Own_Domain

but that does not talkk about that TAG and mentions a parked domain

So in summary

I have a domain name myname.co.uk hosted elsewhere
I want to have that domain name point to a different web host - google sites
I also want to have 3 emails with that domain name 1@myname.co.uk , 2@myname.co.uk, 3@myname.co.uk
the be able to access those emails via the webmail facility , have autoforward on them, and also be able to use POP/IMAP and be able to access from a desktop and an iphone

it looks like I can do all this - subject to the terms and conditions of activity - does that mean a visit to thewebsite , or do i need to log into the cpanel every 30days

This will also be a very small business site as well as personal use , i would not expect a huge amount of traffic - just typical of a one person business, for transalation services

hope you can help and this is the solution

i will also look into using the hosting rather than the google sites, as that maybe a good solution.

thanks to all replies

IMO If you going to use 'Google Sites' as your 'host' then use Google Gmail for your Email needs

I also want to have 3 emails with that domain name 1@myname.co.uk , 2@myname.co.uk, 3@myname.co.uk the be able to access those emails via the webmail facility , have autoforward on them, and also be able to use POP/IMAP and be able to access from a desktop and an iphone

If you had domain [ myname.co.uk ] set as a 'addon domain' or a 'parked domain' - you can do all of that - Note: I do not have a iPhone but I do check my Email on my cell phone

...does that mean a visit to thewebsite , or do i need to log into the cpanel every 30days

From x10hosting's free-hosting "Terms of Service" (TOS)...
7. Inactivity
Accounts found to be inactive are suspended for a 14 day period and then removed from our servers (terminated). All data including any type of backup or stored information is removed with the account. To prevent an account from being suspended for inactivity it is required users visit the x10Hosting Account Portal* located at https://x10hosting.com/portal/ at least once every 30 days**. Accounts must have a working website within 1 week.
* Account Portal (AP) is not the same as your cPanel - and you can get to cPanel with one click from inside the AP
** this is NOT once a month - log-in on 01/October then on 01/November would be 31 days

SEE --> x10hosting.com/terms

i will also look into using the hosting rather than the google sites, as that maybe a good solution.

IMO x10hosting is a better solution for a "Web site" than 'Google Sites' - with items such as disk space - FTP - CSS and more...
I have both a free and a paid account at x10hosting

Compare this list --> http://x10hosting.com/wiki/Plan_comparison - to what you can use at 'Google Sites'

Thanks for your speedy reply,
I'm actually just looking at setting the site up and hosting here , as google sites is a little limited and I have not found a good fee or minimum priced, from I worked producing 1man sites a few years ago, and this looks like a good solution.

i was looking at wordpress to use to create the site, but would be very open to other suggestions and recommendations for hosting here, not yet found a tutorial for X10 , just looking now

there is mention of paying a minimum fee something like £3 per quarter , which then makes the login unnecessary, so my user can concentrate on just using the email - I clicked the link but it did not go anywhere.

Prime membership appears to offer a good solution

if you know how to access that info...

hopefully have a draft site over the weekend, and then present nextweek and see if we can signup and do the domain transfer

I have two WordPress CMSs in my free-hosting account and one e107 CMS - my point is you have room for more than one at one time - so you can try them until you find the one you like

Look in my sig for links to Wiki's about x10hosting's free-hosting

You need to have a free-hosting account before you can upgrade it - to [ Prime] from the Account Portal (AP)

...and do the domain transfer
You do not need to transfer the domain (as in change domain registrar)

To use your own domain at x10hosting - see --> http://realhandydata.info/wiki/index.php/How_to_Use_Your_Own_Domain
