I recently discovered an interesting method to have Windows Live Messenger (formally known as MSN) minimize to tray instead of taskbar (which imo is utterly annoying)...
Very simple, yet very effective...

  • Close MSN
  • Locate the exe (msnmsgr), in C:/Program Files/Windows Live/Messenger
  • Right click, Properties
  • Select Compatibility tab, and choose compatibility for Windows Vista
  • Then reload MSN, and BAM, it will now remain in the tray ;)
