Using to much server CPU

I got suspended a short while ago for using to much processing power and CPU on the server. I am currently working on my website which is using Joomla. Does anyone have any idea how this happened and how I could avoid it happening again. Note would uploading extensions/modules etc play a big part in this?

And, yes, extensions and modules could, possibly, be part of the issue.

I got suspended again, could please unsuspend me. I'm nearly sure that the problem is a component I am trying to upload and install on Joomla because its the second time I have tried to upload it and then I get suspended in the upload/install process. I will just try and find a different plugin similar to this one. Also I am going to install a caching system to help out a little to.
