Hi, I am hosting my first forums onto my website so bare with me in trying to keep it basic. I will be using a purchased copy of vBulletin for my forums.
After reading all the instructions included, this is the part that I have trouble with, I will try to use as much information as I can;
I had uploaded the contents into a folder called 'forum' and left my configuration file default. However when I do this part 'http://www.example.com/forum/install/install.php' I get a 404 Page Error stating that the page is non-existant. I have checked using the File Manager in the cPanel, and all files are correctly uploaded into my 'forum' folder. Purely as testing, I have tried it on another Host and had no problem in loading the forums on that Host, however they did not support MySQL for free users but the forums did infact load correctly as I got to the stage of setting up user accounts before I was notified that I did not have permission to use MySQL. If it is any easier for anyone that has not used vBulletin, I believe the problem is where the forum is being stored, since the only problem like previously stated was a non-existant page when attempting to install. Also to note, I am being a little confused with the File Manager, when I use it, and browse to my files for instance;
My folder is placed in the root directory using FTP, when I use File Manager, browse my 'forum' folder, and select 'view' on a file, it tells me they are placed in 'home/nekkron/forum/*file'.
It could also be a Database problem, since when I tested vBulletin with the other Host, they didn't have alot of features and all I was required to do was upload it and not mess with MySQL Databases. I ran the MySQL Wizard, and successfully have a database listed, but unsure as to whether there is anythng else besides just making one like said.
If anyone is successfully using vBulletin on thier website, can you please tell me where the files or folders should be or tell me how I can overcome my 404 Page Non-existant problem.
Thanks.
Edit: After moving the 'forum' folder into 'root/www/' I believe has changed something, when I use the same method 'http://www.example.com/forum/install/install.php' I now recieve this message:

Code:
[SIZE=2]The config.php file is commented throughout, so you should be able to work out what values to enter for the variables yourself. When you have finished, save the file and then upload the entire contents of the 'upload/' folder to your web server.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=2]When this is done, point your browser at http://www.example.com/forums/install/install.php (where www.example.com/forums/ is the URL of your vBulletin) and proceed to click the Next Step buttons until the script asks to fill in some addresses and names for your board.[/SIZE]
