Hi! I've just learned that to have a STATIC IP in order to view my DVR (CCTV) I need a business account with my ISP (BT).

Is there any way I can link my X10 site with my LAN?

I apologize if this request sounds ridiculous it's because I'm still learning but I don't mind being educated.

Thank you,
Colin

When my ISP was BT, my IP changed just once, which was whilst my HomeHub was switched off for two weeks as I was on holiday. Try http://checkip.dyndns.org/ every so often to see what happens.

I'm not sure that what you want to do with free hosting is possible but hopefully the above will come in handy.

You could use a Dynamic DNS service (such as dyndns that Sharky previously linked) to associate a domain name with whatever your IP is currently set to; x10Hosting does not offer such services so you will need to look elsewhere (as this is outside of the realm of hosting)

Thanks for that Sharky! I noticed the IP Address the other day and you're right it hasn't changed yet.
There's no harm in waiting.

Thank you,

Thanks Skizzerz! The piece of software that I mentioned in my reply to Sharky actually asks for a DDNS address. When I've woken up I'll read the manual & hope it all comes together. I can't believe I missed that software when I installed my DVR.
If all else fails! Read the instructions!

Thanks again,
Colin

Sorry Sharky I replied to my own question. My reply is below.
