website 404 error

From yesterday 11pm, my website has been unusually slow on loading, then as of today 1:06pm, it has switched to either a 404 error or "The page is temporarily unavailable". The site runs on joomla.

I am inclined to say this is an issue with my website mysql connection, as it kept timing out, and now it causing the pages not to load. Could you please be of assistance and let me know how this issue can be resolved.

The site is loading at varied speeds every time I attempt to load it. It would have to be temporary server load causing the problem. I didn't receive any Temporarily Unavailable messages though. For the meantime, just hang tight.

yes, i noticed that now too. I guess i shall have to hold off on the plug in updates i wanted to do, as it constantly keeps timing out.
