What are some programs for website making?

sorry i'm new to website design and i'm just wondering what would be some good website production programs?

You can use the following softwares for web design. Though there are many, currently i am posting some of them

Notepad,dreamweaver, and other editors for coding the html,php, jsp etc
Photoshop,GIMP etc for picture editing
Smartftp, filezilla for ftp

These are some standard software that are currently being used.

There are also some scripts like
CMS content management scripts for developing a site.

It really depends on what you want to use your site for.

If you are new to programming and don't want to actually program a site you can install a content management system such as joomla (to install, cpanel -> fantasico -> joomla), which gives you a site to change without having to worry about code.

Otherwise you could install a forum (also in fantasico), or use software such as sunsils suggested to create a site with a coding program such as dreamweaver and then upload it.

You need Dreamweaver for edit your site.
You need GIMP for edit your Pictures.

NVU and Amaya are like Dreamweaver only free.

The Gimp and Paint.net are good free image editors... I prefer The Gimp for everything but paint.net is good too.
