What is "Host Name" (installing Joomla)

I'm manually installing Joomla 1.5 and I've come to the point where I have to enter database information. I'm not sure what to put in the field of "Host Name".

Host Name: (This is usually localhost or a host name provided by the hoster)


Would I just enter localhost or would it be something else?

This would be localhost. Be sure to have your database already setup. As it will ask for that as well.

Hi thanks it all worked. I've run into a problem now just when I was going to delete the installation folder and visit the site for the first time now all of a sudden I cannot connect to my CPanel or FTP. Is crossacks down or something? This would be very coincidental if it's down just when I am finishing my installation.

That's actually my FTP programs error message.

you can check weather it was the server cossacks by logging into your cpanel and clicking on server status. It will then tell you weather anything is down such a ftp.
