This could be the problem with .htaccess, So rename the .htacces file with some thing else and try to access your page , If still problem exists, post back here.

The file is still there, it is just hidden. On a Unix system files beginning with a . a hidden by default. In your FTP client try to find an option for show hidden files.

It's not just Stoli, Lotus is experiencing similar problems. Basically, any page that requires PHP will result in a "500 Internal Server Error". Any straight HTML page will be fine, leading me to believe that there is something seriously wrong with the PHP configuration as I have been seeing this symptom for a few days now.

Also, custom error pages are also not being called on the 500 error. I have a custom error page setup and functioning normally, but it is not being found with this error.

If it happens "sometimes", it most probably not your .htaccess that is at fault. If you have a syntax or other error in that file, it shows up on ever page access.

Most likely a server problem.

People are being asked in these forums to change file names clear cache and flush dns when clearly there is a server issue. Not good advice.

As said above, this is nothing to do with any faulty .htaccess files, at least not on the individual user level. This is a higher level problem that is affecting all users on the servers.
