Dear site Admins,
I can see that I have registered at a critical time. just looking at the account panel I can see that there are many PHP limitations & security measures taking place, and many pre-coded PHP users posting for errors and disabled functions.

As I am not a PHP programmer and just a casual CMS user for the time being (although willing to learn PHP as I learn Drupal,) I am a bit worried and in question.

When do I need to upgrade my PHP, if ever, to use Drupal (and for any CMS that other users use?)

I do not want to run the installation script to be flooded with errors, especially that I am learning web development with university colleagues (they won't be happy seeing lots of errors for the first time, right!)

I would like to install modules and themes without any troubles, so what is the advisory for now? To upgrade or not to upgrade??

Thanks a lot.

If you're going to run drupal I would suggest to upgrade to intermediate. Basic will stop some of the functions. So ask for the upgrade then wait until you're accepted and then install.

Yes, intermediate should run everything fine. It's a one time thing you'll have to do, after that you'll be set.
