It is part of our TOS that we require users to login to the forum at least once every two weeks so that you all can keep up with the latest news and server issues.
Secondly, we need to know who is inactive and active; people who are active deserve webhosting, whereas people who are inactive are wasting space and bandwidth that another free user could use.

When you have a hosting company, you can make your own rules. 
Obviously, this is Corey's hosting company and he makes the rules, and he apparently thinks that that is an important rule, so get over it. It's really not THAT hard to login to the forums, now is it?
