Will spend $150 to buy IPB?

As you may know, long time ago, IPS stated that IPB will always be free. Then after 2003 if not wrong, it start to sell IPB for 69.95 for normal license and 189.95 for permanent license. IPB 2.2. Beta 2 (public version ) is now released, and guess what? IPS again raise the fee, for normal license is $149 and Cooperate License is $300 if not wrong.

And wow, don't you think that this is reticules? I mean, if I am the buyer, why don't I just spend more $11 to get a better vBulletin. Although vBulletin is lack of beautiful graphic and admincp, but I am sure that we can have some graphic designer to have a good layout if you really one. Editing the image is as piece of cake.

Discuss how you think about IPS nowadays...

IPS is like the Microsoft of Forums. they're just like them, they want as much money as they can get, and if it means raising the costs for support and downloads, that's what they're gonna do, i say go to hell and lower your prices again, but look at microsoft for example, they are actually better i'd say, all their updates and everything are free, as long as you have a genuine copy, but if i'm correct, once your upgrade license has expired for IPB, you no longer receive even security updates and minor patches, that's what i think but...

can anyone verify this?

IPS is just hungry for money. They said it will always be fre because they prob thought there would be no interest for it. But after the 1.3 buz, they said, let charge people to use IPB and then as they get more employees and stuff. CHARGE MORE.


Also I would nver but IPB, i hate the new ACP, vB is much better as it has the old sytle IPB look, which is better.

I agree with you 100% WHy should anyone pay this much? And they did say it would always be free. They are all a bunch of theieves all forum companies. SO to be honest. I wouldt nuy any of them. But if yur going to buy ipb forget it and get Vbulletin.

I would NEVER pay for an IPB. I'd pay MAYBE for an SMF and I guess I would have to pay for a vBulletin but IPB? NO WAY MAN!!1112

I like vBulletin because the points. It keeps the members motivated and offers rewards and an RPG.

I like SMF for the options that it gives the Admins AND the Members. There's just so many options...

Lol, that is juts some mod, IPB also have. I love the new ACP of IPB as it is tidy, however... man, even 69.95 I will not choose it. It provide less power then vB...:nuts:

In my opinion SMF is better, IPB and Vbulletin are both too expensive...
You get lot's of support not to mention being able to edit the files without violating the copyrights..
There's always an alternative, Open source
