I am using the microsoft desktop elite set (I paid$85 for it)

It works great. Battery life is dependent on the brand you get as well as your surfing habits.

I type like a mad man. I have had to chnge the betteries in the mouse twice, but have not had to change the keyboard batteries yet. (I have had the set almost a year)

The range is great too. Again the key board is better. But I can use the media funtion keys from across the office, which is nice for when I was watching movies and such :)

Yeah i was thinkin of buying the same. A set would be better then buying 2 different types. I am thinkin of goin to best buy and getting some kind of warranty, if they offer any.

Logitech's work great, as some have mentioned, I have used them in the past.

On this computer, my main one, I am using an 8 year old wired mouse (intellimouse 1.1A) that has had virtually NO problems whatsoever, though. I'm not sure if a wireless one could take that long before having problems. This mouse even works great for FPS games, it has no lag time or anything.

Yes they are good. They are good becasue they are wirless no more wires and they do not freeze up on you unless you go to a certain feet in the range.. also I have one and I type a lot and I have changed the battery in my mouse 2 times but on my keyboard 0. I would reccomend you get eaither Logitech or Microsoft those are 2 best.

go for logitech the are well know for their mouse and keyboard.

Buy rechargeable batteries so you dun need to keep buying batteries just have 4 rechargeable batteries and another 4 rechargeable batteries on reserved which are already charge.

use the latest rechargeable batteries, I think is 2500( some wording at the back I cannot remember it) that allows you to charge within 1 to 2 hours, that's fast isn't it and may last you for 1 to 2 months before you need to recharge again.

Nowadays, wireless technology has come very far, and there isn't any lag (with semi-new equipment) of mice and keyboards. I would suggest getting Logitech stuff, because I have had two sets of wireless combos from them (one top-of-the-line and one bottom-of-theline) and they both are very good.

I currently have the MX3100 Combo from Logitech, which comes with the MX1000 Laser Mouse and the MX3000 Keyboard. They are really amazing, however, it costs ~$120.

I also would suggest getting a mouse that uses Fast RF technology, because it is extremely fast and is (in the MX1000's case) the same as a USB corded mouse.

(Oh, and the MX1000 doesn't require batteries, it charges at a base station which is really nice. And, the keyboard batteries pretty much never run out.)
