Won't let me install on root

It won't let me install on the root of my site using fantastico!!

i get this error:

there is already a script installed on the root.

BUT I HAVE NOTHING INSTALLED ON THE ROOT!!!

It even says so in my fantastico!!!!!

THERE ARE NO FILES!!

how can I fix this error??

Please help me fix it!!

You have phpbb installed in root. I also changed it so you can install another script in root but it WILL break your phpbb install.
