lmao, I should have known what WoW stands for, I thought he was just saying WOW. lol sorry bout that.

Why do you need a CD key for WoW? Are you playing on BNet servers or private servers.

Either way you don't need a CD key.

Ahh meant like a prepaid card that people arent using...the number on the back...

Ahh well, sorry can't help you there. I have never played WoW on BNet's servers.

A CD key is what you get when you buy the software. When you install WoW you need the CD key for it to install. Giving up the CD key is almost like giving up the keys to your house :)
So if they check the CDkey used in the installation, they know who to look for if there's issue on the licensing. Not sure about how the BNet works
