We'll this is the problem I've had with my computer. Suppose I use it 1 day. It works just fine during that day, I turn it off and the next day I turn it on it just freezes at the start up screen where windows is loading. So I have to either system restore or use "Use last known good settings" everytime. Then after doing that for a week or 2, it just freezes forever, system restore doesnt' work and last known good settings doesnt work. So I have to format and I end up at the same situation at the starting.

I scanned using antivirus and everything, it doesnt help. I know its not my HD because its brand new. No one has been able to help me solve this problem. Anyone got a solution?

Just to offer a suggestion, but these guys here : http://short-media.com/forum/index.php? are really good at finding and fixing issues.

They have you run a series of tests and fixes, but 98-100 times, they can find the problem and fix it. ( Does take a day or two sometimes to get an answer - but they try to answer quickly )

Give them a shot, anyway. If nothing else.

I wouldn't think so, mine had the same issue but I never quite figured out what I did that fixed it >_<

Then again it only happened for me when my pc was on for 5+ days then I shut it off :S

Wish I knew what fixed it besides not leaving my pc on for 5+ days, cause it'd sure come in handy right now

Also, try checking your harddrive. Please make sure nothing is corrupt or overheated. Many things could be the problem. Its just a matter of time til the problem is solved.

Isn't that basically what I have stated? ... If he visited the forum I stated above, the staff of the forum will help him run through numerous tests and scripts to find out the problem with his computer and do their best to help him fix it.

Unless he knows what he is doing on his own ... just poking and proding into his system to "check" this and that, may make more harm than good.

Thats true Starshine. Although I didn't tell him to do anything, just what I thought it was. (I'm not trying to be rude.)

Insert your Windows XP start up disc and select the option to repair. Go to the command line and type chkdsk /f or you may let Windows fix the problem automatically--this option is before you get to the command line. If chkdsk /f does not help, try chkdsk /r.

The fact that your HD IS new, and not old, leads me to believe that it is the problem. Factories make mistakes, just call the company who sold you the computer, explain your problem, and I'm sure you'll be able to get some sort of refund, unless the product is void.

Hell, as always the fastest way to fix any problem like that is to format and completely reinstall windows.

well try first to check errors by chkdsk command and then fix them and
defragment the hard disk
if this doesnt solve
check for viruses
full format the hard disk
reinstall windows xp
try for the genuine version since may be the winxp you are using may be tampered
then verify the signatures all winxp files the by typing sigverif in run command
if everything is correct
you may be having problem with hardware
check the connections ,cooling fan, motherboard ,ram
if everything is correct try to install another os like win 98 or linux 0r ubuntu
