Hey all

Recently I have been working in a graphic design firm doing website design and database development. Earlier this week me and my boss came to an agreement that he buys the Macbook Pro of my dreams if I pay it off by working there :) Well I have the MB Pro and its GREAT!

Is anyone else a Mac person?

Heres the specs:
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16Ghz
1.5GB RAM
128MB ATI Radeon X1600
120GB HDD

Sorry to crash the party, but Apple just announced their new 8-core Mac Pro today:

http://www.apple.com/macpro/

Of course, the 8-core configuration will cost you at least $4000 US. Nobody can afford that.

Revision3 just ordered 10 to render their video.

By "nobody", I was kind of referring to the consumer. Revision3 are professionals, and they need that power anyway.

Nice laptop; still prefer a cheaper and better Windows equivalent, though.

Dell's upcoming Linux PC line-up FTW

I'm sure I have a few zealot friends that have enough money to buy 3 or 4 of the $18k ones.

I've got a MacBook Pro (Black) and I gotta tell you it is pretty awesome. THEY BREAK EASILY THOUGH!!! I am on it right now and am required to have it for school. Mine is in the Computer Help Desk (repair shop on campus) about once a month though for some hardware reason, so be careful! (Oh yeah, and mine has absolutely no RAM...) but other than that it's the best computer I've owned up until last week when I got the Velocity Micro PC with Vista and 4G RAM, 320 HD, and a 22" monitor (a year's savings for it too)

After my week and a bit experience with this machine...i gotta say...windows is a POS! Like this is just soo stable and reliable that I don't have to worry about hacking or it crashing and losing my essay. Its THE best computer I have used ever! Like theres no way to express how happy I am with this.

I have added a few programs that make my life soo much easier: Schoolhouse; management of school work, Adium; teh best IM client that loggs me into all my IM's on the same program, Butler; it makes my life of opening applications soo much easier and lets not forget the OS itself....you'll never find out all the shortcuts.

People that are 100% against Macs are (i hope no1 here is) paramecium's, a 1 celled organism.

OS X makes Vista look like a chew toy :)

I hate adium so much... especially growl. I downloaded it and uninstalled it in practically the same minute. Btw the shortcut for screenshot is:

Command + Shift + 4 + Spacebar + Click and drag over what you want to take a picture of + OR + Spacebar again + Click to take a screenshot of the whole screen.

Or you could keep windows and press one measly button. It's your choice.

Screenshot is: Cmd + Shift + 3 (for a full screen) or Cmd + Shift + 4 (for a selection of your choice) and It send it straight to the desktop as a PNG ready for you t do something with it :)

Lol with Windows it aint that easy ;) Print screen + Start + All Programs + Accessories + Paint + Ctrl + V + File + Save + Input save path + Enter

Also I have noticed OS X is a better 'drag and drop' environment than Windows. I just grab a file with my mouse and put it where the heck I want it. And to make it open in a program, simple! Just Drag and drop it onto the program icon and boom theres the screenshot i just took opening in Photoshop.

Also another cool thing, Expose....if you use it right it is the tool that kills 'Aero' which by the way is just Expose but in a more Microsoft way. If you dont know, Expose is a window management system. If i push F11 it will move my windows out of sight and back if I push it again.

BTW has anyone here had Vista Ultimate? I want to know if its any good....if it 'wow'-ed you :p

Widgets === Gadgets? Well im pretty sure Micro$oft stole that one :p

Lol and yes...i have become a Mac fan. Once you go Mac you NEVER go back :) If I get to painful just tell me to stop :p

I have 2 friends who have ultimate. THEY LOVE IT! They say its juts amazing. I use Home Premium, and LOVE it, I hate macs, all my friends have mac books, and i hate them. Because Im supposedl;y the computer genius of my friends, so I have to help them with crap. And then so I had to learn to use Macs and just hate them.

Vista Ultimate may be amazing, but OS X is still much easier to use and faster. How can you hate macs? Everything about them is easier to use - no viruses, etc., the drag and drop features Xenon mentioned, and OS X isn't clogged up with code from over 10 years ago and doesn't run 25+ extra unneeded services in the background. Congrats Xenon on the MBP though, I'm still on a G5 tower (although it is fast).

In windows its Start dragging file -> move to task bar element (To open the program) -> drop it in place where you can drop it to.

So nothing much different.
