What the heck is the difference between the three? I want to know which processor is essentially the better of the three, in terms of L2 cache and average clock speed
core 2 duo..duh. the slowest C2D is as powerful as athlon 64 x2 5000+.
Centrino is optimized for laptops, it has power scaling, so it will be slow mostly...
Pentium Core duo is essentially the same as centrino's but as powerful as P4 with HT, but instead of logical cores, they are physical.
Microprocessor: 1.60 GHz Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology featuring Intel® Core ™ 2 Duo processor T5200
So that means that it has a physical Core 2 Duo, but scales down the power usage through Centrino Duo technology?
Centrino is not a technology at all. It is a fancy name for a laptop that has an Intel processor that scales along with usage (to conserve power/keep it cool), and a special Intel networking card. Nothing more. Essentially, the C2D and the Centrino are the same processor.
By the way, get the Core 2 Duo. And a "Pentium Core Duo" doesn't exist; were you thinking of a Pentium D? (those suck, by the way)
